Mary Harper

MARY HARPER

Mary Harper was an award winning artist, a tolerant housewife, and superlative mother. She died in 2002 at the age of 82. You may read her obituary here.
Mary and Chandler Harper made their home in the Florida Keys.

Working Artist

A feature artist at the Sugar Mill Gallery and Bougainvillea House, Mary Harper's striking watercolor paintings and scratch boards often depicted the landscapes and people from the mid-Atlantic dunes to the bright sub-tropical sun of Florida Keys to her final series of the soft colors of the American southwest.
Many of the paintings exhibited here hang in collections across the country but we do have an inventory of paintings for sale. Each piece in this gallery is appropriately marked.

Arts Organizations and Community Service

Mary followed a family tradition of community service. She served on the board of the Chester County Hospital Auxilliary and was Chairman of Chester County Day, the nation's premiere tour of American homes. Mary was a member of the All Arts Council of Franklin County, the Florida Keys Art Guild, and the Florida Keys Watercolor Society.
